No people ever had so many promises offered them as the Jews, no people ever had such bright and cheering prospects. They were originally set apart for a particular purpose which meant then, and still today means, much to the people and church of God. Israel was to be a lesson for the church.

Their refusal to comply with the wishes of God led them to become a forsaken people; and the Savior said to them just before the close of His earthly ministry: “The kingdom of God shall be taken from you, and given to a nation bringing forth the fruits thereof.”

During these many years their sufferings and persecutions have been a faithful witness to the truth of the Savior’s words. Still God offered them salvation, and does even to this present day.
