Inhaltsangabe

Everyday, thousands of children move from one place to another because their lives are transient and permanency is non-existent. They move because their parent has been evicted for not paying rent, for using drugs, or for breaking a rule in government housing. They move so often that boxes or garbage bags are their dressers, with clothes spilling out on dirty floors. Many have moved so frequently, that they may have attended three or more schools in one year, and few can remember the names of the schools or the friends they started to make. Sometimes a move is thought necessary if a parent or caregiver feels that Child Protective Services is looking for them and moving in with friends or acquaintances is an option. Sometimes the mother is trying to disappear from a boy-friend or find a place that costs less. Home is a place that you live in for the moment, not the place that you were raised. This book was written so others may begin to know what they go through as children, and the many struggles in being a social worker who tries to keep them safe.
