Über die Autorin bzw. den Autor

Verna has been performing stand-up monologues with material from "sit down comedy... TALES FROM GERIASSIC PARK – On the Verge of Extinction", a one older-woman show in development. Her niche is aging. Most recently, she is the “imaginator” of KICK BUTT BALL (Squeeze Me – Get a Grip! )– a stress/exercise ball. She wrote the jingle and is featured in the senior video version. www.kickbuttball.com She is the founder/director of SOUNDSCAPE which started as a performance space in NYC from 1979 – 1983. SOUNDSCAPE was the first US presenter of “world music” in 1983 with King Sunny Ade from Nigeria which the New York Times called “…the pop event of the decade.” She went on to produce and develop the careers of the great artists Youssou Ndour, Carlinhos Brown, Salif Keita, Yomo Toro and Roswell Rudd, her present collaborator. She has a Ph.D. in Ethnomusicology and did field work in Haiti, the Dominican Republic, Peru, Surinam, Ghana, Afghanistan, Iran and Kashmir. She has released cds on the Smithsonian Folkways and Lyrichord labels. She taught at Brooklyn College and Carnegie Mellon. Going sane one day at a time!
