What Is a Red Wiggler? is a children's book introducing the use of red wiggler worms for composting food scraps and more. Megan shows how to set up a red wiggler worm bin and how to harvest the castings. Eric's photos and renderings of the inside of a worm show the importance of this very special worm. A journal is included for observations about the worms. The book is a current commentary on disposing of our food scraps, rather than them going to the landfill. The worm castings are the best soil enhancer a gardener can use, eliminating chemical fertilizer.

Über die Autorin bzw. den Autor

Nancy Warner is the creator of The Worm Ladies of Charlestown, Inc. that is all about composting with red wiggler worms (vermicomposting). This book introduces young children to composting and recycling using the red wiggler worm. Nancy's granddaughter Megan shows how to make your own red wiggler worm bin and how to harvest the castings (worm poop). Nancy's son Eric, a marine biologist in Washington State, does the photos for the book as well as renderings of the worm's insides. Nancy has been using the red wigglers for composting for 22 years and loves using the worm castings for her gardens. She has bachelor and master degrees in art education. Raising angora rabbits and dealing with too many flies surrounding the rabbit manure led to purchasing her first 3000 red wigglers.
