This is one of the few 'how-to' books that really delivers on promise. After just a week and a half and only halfway through the book, I had my first empty in-box experience, the dream of any email enslaved professional. While this book is very practical and has an almost instant pay-back it covers the issue of managing your email and thus your time in a holistic way. It contains essential tips and tricks but also goes into the mindset and conceptions we all have and that prevent us from being more efficient and more effective. We take driving lessons before we can take a car to the road. In the same way, you should read this book before you start using email.

I love this little book from Joost Wouters - so practical and so full of tips to get in control of email. Let's be honest, managing emails is a challenge and Joost's strategies are just what I need. Highly recommend to anyone - senior executive, CEO, entrepreneur or just starting out on your career.

I started to read this book on my flight back home, and after a few pages I was sorry not to have my laptop with me. Let me give you a small tip: read it with your Outlook opened and start to implement the tips as you go through the book. It took me 3 days to get my inbox to zero emails, and more important I kept it like this since then. Fantastic! Clear method to boost your productivity and to get more important things done.

Joost Wouters (1970) is one of those rare people capable of coupling business growth with personal development. This is why the world's top companies invite him to their offices.

My main drive for writing is that I didn't exactly enjoy every situation I was in, when I was an executive team member. Feeling more like a reactive firefighter, rather than a proactive business builder, wasn't providing me with the energy to achieve what I wanted to accomplish.

I just don't want you and your team to be there as well, let alone to stay there.

When people get to the point where they start leading an organisation, they can accomplish so much more than answering email all day. I believe that most teams are wasting their leadership potential and the talents they have. You and your team just have to fulfil your leadership potential, because your organisation looks at you and follows your example.

My experience?

I started my professional career at P&G. Later I joined the Executive Team of Pepsi Cola Benelux. When our first son was born, I decided to quit my job and start a Management Consulting firm. Over the last 11 years, I have worked with clients such as Unilever, Heineken, Reckitt Benckiser, LG.Philips, Imperial Tobacco, Vodafone, Sara Lee, and Nestlé all over the world.

In 2005 I traveled with my family for a year through the USA in a motor home. Since our return we moved to Spain, where we've built a house and training location on the Mediterranean. Here you're always welcome to discuss your challenges while enjoying a cortado.
