Deus X is a comical detective story told in blank verse. It contains satire, allegory and slap-stick humor; social commentary, religious overtones and prophecy. In Arty Skidlow (the protagonist) is Everyman, Quixote, and Ulysses all rolled into one. The plot is episodic, and the metrical structures are of a high order. Not recommended for dunderheads.

Über die Autorin bzw. den Autor

Samuel Earl Simpson was born in 1943 in the town of Commerce in East Texas. He graduated from Baylor University, served in the Air Force, and received an MFA in creative writing from the University of Iowa. After a year employed in a junior high school, he taught English at a community college in Virginia until he retired. He and his wife reared three daughters and live in an old farmhouse with a pleasant view of the Rappahannock River.
