Reseña del editor:
For 'Downton Abbey' fans! Scandal, romance and intrigue in a grand old English country house: Swallowcliffe Hall, home to the aristocratic Vye family and the staff who look after them. When Polly Perkins first starts work at the Hall, she finds it hard to learn the etiquette required of an under-housemaid. Life at Swallowcliffe is a whirl of shooting parties, picnics and balls for the Vyes and their guests. Nobody takes much notice of the quiet girl who lays their fires and empties their slops, but Polly is sharp-eyed and quick-witted and eventually she discovers a dark secret lurking behind the Hall's elegant façade - a secret that will end up breaking her heart. When a young American heiress arrives at the Hall, Polly must decide whether the time has come to reveal what she knows. NOTE: This story was first published under the title, 'House of Secrets'.
Biografía del autor:
Jennie Walters worked in publishing before deciding to write her own books. She was partly inspired to create the 'Swallowcliffe Hall' trilogy by visits to beautiful old English country houses, and partly by finding a silver housekeeper's chatelaine when clearing out her late father-in-law's flat. As a teenager, she spent a couple of years in a clifftop boarding school in a converted Victorian mansion, with a sweeping marble staircase and a collection of stuffed birds in glass cases. She now lives with her husband in London.
