Born at an early age, writing and art seemed to be in John Mosby’s blood from the very start. Even before leaving junior school (at the age of 11), he was a runner up in the UK’s classic Jackanory Writing Competition and had won a ride in a helicopter for his drawing skills. The helicopter failed to take off, but thankfully the same was not true of his career. He began editing college magazines and had his first review printed in a local newspaper in 1989. A member of the Guild of Regional Film Writers since 1990, he has covered the entertainment industry in all its forms ever since. His writing career spans over thirty national titles and the likes of Total Film, TV Zone Starburst, Film Review, Satellite Times, Fantazia, Profile and the Yorkshire Evening Post. He has been a columnist for Dreamwatch, the film critic for BBC Radio Leeds, the UK Bureau Chief for Sci-Fi Universe and was a regular contributor to The Leeds Guide. Prior to his latest tome, Gods, Monsters & Mutants, he has written three books, including two official tie-ins (Barb Wire and The X-Men) and one - The Cutting Edge - on the history of sword-play in the movies. He has appeared on television shows ranging from SKY’s Top Ten Sci-Fi Movies of all Time, Yorkshire Television’s Fun and Games and has served as Impact Magazine’s editor for over a decade. On the graphic design front he has designed DVD sleeves, book covers and cinema posters as well as establishing the branding for several companies, a range of pop culture cards and creating layouts/spreads for various magazine articles. He currently divides his time between Yorkshire and Iowa, but also travels extensively for work and pleasure when the opportunity and wallet allow.
