Problem Solving with Math Models: Exploring Bar Diagrams/Tape Diagrams/Model Drawing is an educational tool to help teach the new Math Common Core State Standards. This series specifically focuses on Mathematical Practice 1 (Problem Solving) and Mathematical Practice 4 (Modeling). The series addresses problem solving in grades 2 through 5 and teaches students in a step-by-step manner how to model their mathematical thinking with a bar diagram. Students work through a set of scaffolded problems for each work problem type. There are 5 different practice problems for each word problem type. Each book in the series is framed around designated Common Core State word problem types for the specific grade.
