Author J. Michael Herron surprised himself by writing romance novels when he always thought he would write spy or mystery stories. He finally realized that if people want to read about greed, corruption, and violence he would simply hand them a newspaper. Instead, he prefers helping people take a break from reality and recharge their batteries. When not writing, he can usually be found exploring around his new home in Cuenca, Ecuador. An avid cook, as well as eater, he enjoys searching out new foods to accompany the bread he makes from his 55 year old sourdough starter.
