There comes a time in every Christian's life when we find something that causes us to doubt the Christian teachings. This is more common among Generation X'ers (those born in the 1960's and 1970'x) and even more prevalent among Generation Y'ers (those born in the 1980's and 1990's). This can be confusing and discouraging for our younger generations. We all face doubt at one time or another but today we are bombarded with it almost on a daily basis. Some chose to ignore this new information and file it away as "lies of the devil". Some may even leave the Christian faith altogether to avoid the guilt associated with their unbelief. Some are brave enough to look the Flying Spaghetti Monster right in the eye, acknowledge his existence in our culture and keep on trucking toward a stronger relationship with Jesus Christ. Doubt is everywhere. The church can no longer ignore the needs of their congregants. We must find these seeds of doubt (Richard Dawkins, Christopher Hitchens, the Invisible Pink Unicorn, Bertrand Russell's Flying Teapot, the Flying Spaghetti Monster, etc.) and find ways to cultivate this new trend into something miraculous for the kingdom of God. The alternative is to allow the younger generation to abandon the faith in droves.
