It is a story about a woman in search of a new self and it’s hard not to fall in love with Olivia with her enormous appetite for life or for that matter her lover Volodya whom she meets at the flower stall.

A story teller from childhood and after writing and publishing while relishing and surviving academic life Wendy Robertson became a full-time writer. She has published twenty-four novels (both historical and contemporary), two short story collections and she continues to write occasional articles on issues close to her heart. And she loves writing her blog A Life Twice Tasted. She lives in historic South Durham, in a Victorian house that has played a role in more than one of her novels. She was for five years on and off Writer in Residence at HMP Low Newton – a life-changing experience where she encouraged a wide range of women to raise their self-esteem and realise their potential through original writing. She says: 'The past-in-the-present dominates my mind, my imagination and my writing. I always 'see' individuals, unique characters in their times whether in history or the contemporary world. And I tell their stories. My novels are mostly set in some crosspiece of time and place. The unique, sometimes quirky lives of my characters reflect the wide range of people I’ve come to know very well in my life. She goes on, ‘I have been a compulsive writer since I was eight and have lived through interesting times.
