This little book of poems and short stories is dedicated to my children, who gave me the will to fight for my life. Also, I want to thank my doctors, nurses, family, friends, and those who have fought breast cancer and lived to tell their story. I had to keep a positive attitude in order to beat cancer. I lost my mother and several close friends to this disease. When I heard the word cancer, the first thing that came to my mind was that I was going to die with cancer like my mother. This little book will make you laugh or cry. Writing this little book took me nine years. I am doing God's will by helping, talking, and sharing my story with you. God spared my life for a reason. It was not for me to dwell on what has befallen me but to encourage and be encouraged. I am reaching out to help others. Read this Christ-inspired book. Let the love, healing, and helping others flow in. Again, I thank my doctors, my nurses, and everyone for your support. God is the head of my life, and I pray that he is also the head of yours. CHAPTER 1

To Forgiveness

I would like to say to all of you, there is no limit to forgiveness if you have God in your life and in your heart. If you read in the book of Peter, you will find that Jesus answer to Peter was not "seven times," as Peter had suggested, but "seventy times seven." Since God's patience with man is infinite and His forgiveness without measure, why should not man extend to his brothers what God and Jesus are willing to give? We all make errors or sin at times, so we all need forgiveness. "Forgive and forget" is a far more rational approach to life than harboring grudges and continuing to carry rancorous thoughts in your heart and soul. Pull down the curtain on the faults and failures of yesterday and fears of tomorrow and live well today. May God's spirit go with you throughout the days and the years to come.

"Then Peter came up and said to him, 'Lord, how often shall my brother sin against me, and I forgive him." (Matthew 18:21)

Pain

I know not whether I can bear this pain for another day. It is so severe that I feel at times that I am losing my mind. I must put the pain on the shelf and focus on good things. I try to sip my coffee, but it will not stay down. I listen to the birds sing their songs and I wonder how it would be if I was a bird. Love can render pain to joy if you have someone there to hold your hand when you are in pain. A bitter loss can be sweet because my mother was a sweet person. I know now that pain is a part of our life and when we are no longer in pain, we have taken the last step to the beyond.

A New Day

It is truly a new day for me. How will I live it Lord? I will live one day at a time Lord Jesus. This new day is a chance for me to renew my life. I had breast cancer nine years ago. I know now that I made the right decision, with God's help. For in Thee my troubles and problems will be mine. I know when the load gets to heavy for me to carry, He will be there to lighten the load. This is truly a new day.

"Come to me, all whose work is hard, whose load is heavy; and I will give you relief." - Matthew 11:28

Having A Positive Attitude for Healing

My goals are to work on myself, to give mutual support, practice to be nonjudgmental, to listen, and to share. I know each person's process for healing is important, not my judgment of it. Being accepted as God's child makes it easier to accept myself as I am and to accept others as they are. I can only share with them what helped me, rather than giving advice. I hope each person can find his/her own way with the help of the Lord. Listen to the voice within and you can find your own answers.

"In truth he is my rock of deliverance, my tower of strength, so that I am unshaken." Psalm 62:6

Welcome Home

When I am gone, release me, let me go. I have so many things to see and do. You must not tie yourself to me with tears. Be happy that we had so many good years. I gave you my love, you can only guess how much you gave to me in happiness. I thank you for the love you each have shown, but now it is only for a while we must part to bless the memories within your heart. I will not be far away, for life goes on, so if you need me, call and I will come. Though you cannot see or touch me, I will be near you and if you listen with your heart you can hear all of my love around you soft and clear.

"Casting all your cares upon Him for he careth for you." Peter-5:7

What Is A Mother?

My mother was someone special and she was very important in my life. She did everything she could to raise me the right way and I knew she loved me very much. Day after day, she made sure that we had our bath, food to eat, and she made sure we said our prayers before we got into bed:

"Now I lay me down to sleep, I pray the lord my soul to keep. If I should die before I wake, I pray the Lord my soul to take. Amen."

She kept her faith and trust in God and shared with us so we would not go astray. I am not only talking about Mama, I am talking about the best friend that I had on this earth. My mother was a Christian woman, honest, trustworthy, kind, and true. I wonder what kind of mother I would have become if I had not listened to my mother. You should show respect for your mother and let her know that you love her. Let her know she is special in your life.

My Tribute To My Mother

Someday her sun will set and
she no more will trod this earth.
Joy, sorrow, laughter, tears will be no more.
She passed from this life to the next.
I will leave the sorrows and the tears behind
Only joy, peace and comfort will I know.
Her sunset rejoices in me,
and I hope when my time is near,
I can be as strong as she was.
I turned away for a second, and I thought
I saw a vision of my mother.
I was overwhelmed with love and compassion
that I saw in her eyes, that I could think
of nothing else, but my mother.

"It is by this that we know what love is;
that Christ laid down His life for us and we,
in our turn, are bound to lay down
our lives for our brothers."


Friendship

There is a word called friendship.
I would call it a miracle,
because if it was a true friend,
They would be there through thick and thin.
It dwells within the heart
and you will know when it happens
because of the love you feel in your heart.
Do you know how it happens or gets it start?
It gives you happiness and brings a special lift.
I feel that friendship is God's most precious gift
that He gave us.
