Trevor Denyer has always loved writing and editing. From early schooldays he has aspired to greatness - with mixed results! He recalls detesting school sports lessons; mainly because he wasn't very good at them. Instead, he got permission to create a school magazine with a few like minded friends. "We utilised our talents," he says. "Mine was in design and editing. It was all so tame back then; nothing too controversial, but it was a start." Over the years Trevor has written many short stories, poems and a couple of novels, most of which are unpublished. "I have always been quite lazy," he admits, "and haven't put in the hours and effort needed to reach the top of the game. I guess I've always considered it to be more of a hobby than anything....but maybe that's just an excuse." Nevertheless, his stories have appeared in many independent press magazines over the years, including those that have since gone the way of the dodo. You may recall 'Enigmatic Tales', 'Nasty Piece of Work', 'Night Dreams', 'Scheherezade' and many more, all of which featured Trevor's work. More recently, his stories have been published online and in a number of critically acclaimed anthologies, including 'A Feast of Frights from the Horror Zine', 'After Death...', and 'Help Wanted: Tales of On-The-Job Terror'. It wasn't until the '90s that Trevor's editing ambitions were fully realised. First came 'Roadworks - Tales from the Hard Road'. The eclectic brief was for science fiction, dark fantasy, horror and slipstream fiction, plus author interviews. Then 'Legend - Worlds of Possibility' arrived, covering Arthurian fantasy, romantic fantasy, alternate worlds, myth and magic traditions. Both of these drew much critical acclaim, but Trevor realised that a new magazine, combining the best of both publications was needed. So, in 2004, 'Midnight Street- Journeys Into Darkness' was born. This proved to be a major success; once again, critically acclaimed and publishing stories by authors whose work has benefitted from exposure in this highly respected magazine. Then came Kindle and the eBook, giving Trevor the opportunity to expand like never before. So, he has published two volumes of a new, online anthology: 'Hellfire Crossroads - Short Horror Stories with a Heart'. Once more, Trevor's keen editorial skills are showing as this new endeavour gains momentum.
