Spring is in the air and like sap rising in a tree as the weather warms, creative juices rise to the surface to meet the sweet damp air that evolves into warm summer breezes. This second volume, by Chapter Four like the first, is a compilation of writings by the group members. However, this time the group has a more formalized structure which helps tie together their individual pieces and styles. From a series of writing labs comes Perspectives, a fascinating look at how different writers approach a common prompt, even when it involves kissing a frog. In Poetry, the group challenges themselves to approach a new genre (for most) and surprisingly, or not, the Haiku wins for most popular. It is hard to say if Spring was an obvious chapter selection or wishful thinking in a cold winter, but the writings are light and refreshing like a first spring rain. Chapter Four is a community group but meeting in and having the support of a church most certainly has something to do with the section titled Inspiration. Combine all four sections and you have A Collection of Writings Volume Two offered for your reading pleasure by the members of Chapter Four.

Chapter Four began in May of 2013 as an informal writing group designed to encourage, inspire, and support writers of all levels. Each month the group meets on the first and third Monday night at First Baptist Church in Herndon, VA. The meetings consist of a brief business discussion, a writing lab, a Spotlight learning portion, and a time to share and discuss our writings. During the first year three published authors, an editor, and a publicist spoke to the group. In November 2013, Chapter Four published their first collection of writings. It was small but well received. Their focus moved forward to the compilation and publication of this book, A Collection of Writing, Spring Edition. You can follow Chapter Four on Facebook and Tweeter. Updates on meetings and events are generously published on www.fbcherndon.org. Writers of all ages and abilities are welcome.
