Tensions build up, not only between the secular and the New Brethren sections of the population but within the police investigation team. A freelance, employed by the Corporation Confederation to investigate the kidnapping and death of the planetary Corporation Head, arrives on New Eden but he also has a secret agenda which brings him into conflict with the police and endangers the New Brethren secret program.As he probes into the old case he finds himself dragged into the current hunt for the serial killer which leads to a desperate fight for his own survival.
