Ayn Rand (1905-1982) was a Russian born novelist/philosopher/essayist, who is best known for her influential novels Atlas Shrugged, and The Fountainhead. Rand believed that reason was the only real way to acquire knowledge, and she rejected religion and faith, which is ironic because she's had a significant influence on American Conservatives.
