Romans has been described as the theological epistle par excellence. David E. Garland is professor of Christian Scriptures at George W. Truett Theological Seminary, Baylor University. His books include The Intention of Matthew 23, Reading Matthew: A Literary and Theological Commentary on the First Gospel, "Gospel of Mark" in the Zondervan Illustrated Bible Backgrounds Commentary, and commentaries on Mark, Colossians and Philemon, 2 Corinthians, 1 Corinthians, and Luke.
