Reseña del editor:
“Religion is an insult to human dignity. With or without it, you'd have good people doing good things and evil people doing bad things, but for good people to do bad things, it takes religion.” - Steven Weinberg Why would a pastor with over two decades experience in church leadership decide to walk away from his beliefs and declare that he doubts the existence of any god? Furthermore, what trials would he experience as he learned to live again without faith? Well, this book contains the thoughts of that pastor as he transitioned from believer to atheist. It is sometimes serious, sometimes humorous, but is presented in a way that is always entertaining. Religious folks would say that Jerod Lawrence “fell away” from God—that’s church talk for someone who isn’t serving the Lord and has chosen a life of sin. Indeed Jerod did fall... and he did it on purpose! Jerod’s deconversion was no accident. It was a carefully planned act with no doubts and no fear of mistake. He researched every question to the satisfaction of his curiosity. He read arguments for and against religion, and considered the potential of both to be true. Ultimately, he realized that something was missing in his Christian life... the facts. Containing over thirty chapters that alternate between thought-provoking prose, and entertaining poetry, Falling On Purpose is certain to keep your attention, strengthen your desire to ask the necessary questions, and live a life full of confidence in what you may, or may not, believe.
