Gary Rea's approach to street photography is all about shadow and light and how they interplay with the urban environment and the people within that environment. The images presented here are a sampling of some of Rea's work from 2015, including a sampling of a few of his series projects, each of which has been produced at particular locations in downtown Seattle. Rea describes his development as a photographer, from his beginnings as a photo lab technician in the U.S. Air Force during the Vietnam era to his latest work as a street photographer on the streets of downtown Seattle. Gary Rea was born in 1952 in Oklahoma City and has been a photographer for 44 years, beginning as a photo lab technician in the U.S. Air Force during the Vietnam era. He studied photojournalism at the University of Central Oklahoma in 1985-1986 and earned a B.A. in graphic design from the University of Central Oklahoma in 1989. His work has appeared in the juried exhibition "Shadow and Light: 2015" at Black Box Gallery in Portland, Oregon (May 1-20, 2015) and he has been featured as a Street Shooter of the Month in Street Photography Magazine. Rea has lived in Seattle since 2009.
