Companies set their business goals, design their organization and select a strategy. These are three important internal factors in how companies are run. Companies also choose the technology for developing their innovation for a selected customer base in a clearly defined market. A company's DNA is defined by its internal and external factors. A company's DNA defines the nature of innovations that it can offer its customers. The book applies the concept of hexagrams defined in the Chinese classic I Ching (a book of changes) to a company's innovation capability. Hexagrams that represent the internal and external factors that constitute a company's DNA influences the nature of innovations it can create and hence is named Innogram. An Innogram defines the innovation scenario faced by a company with that Innogram . The book presents sixty-four Innograms and the corresponding innovation scenarios. Companies can first pen down the internal and external factors that define their DNA and identify their Innogram, They can then understand the Innovation Scenario corresponding to their Innogram. A company can study all the Innograms and their corresponding innovation scenarios. A company can choose to transition to a new Innogram if it finds its current Innogram is either limiting or irrelevant. The new Innogram will require the company to redefine their business goals, organization, strategy and its customer base, nature of technology used and the type of market they are engaged in. The company will be required to reengineer itself to ensure that they live up to the components of the Innogram of its choice. Companies can apply Innograms either across all its parts or choose separate Innograms for each of their subsidiaries and divisions. The material presented in this book will empower a company to examine its current innovation capabilities and transform itself by choosing a new Innogram if it is not happy with the current Innogram. We hope Innograms will be a useful tool for the re-engineering a company.
