On July 15th 1974 Brigadier Ioannides, "the invisible dictator" of Greece organised a coup d' etat against the President of Cyprus Archibishop Makarios and in two days the whole of Cyprus was under his control. Five days after the coup the Turkish army began the operation "Attilas" invading Cyprus by land, air and sea taking by surprise Ioannides and the Greek military. In this edition one can read the diplomatic and military background of the Turkish military intervention and the failure of Greece to send military forces to Cyprus which resulted in the Greek failure to win the "battle of Cyprus" in July 1974.
