Inhaltsangabe

In 1950s New York City, Jake Strummer lives an average life until one day a twist of faith changes everything and sends Jake on a downward spiral. He finds himself in the middle of one of the most gruesome crime scenes ever recorded. He gets arrested, charged with the crime, trialed, and convicted of twenty-two murders, murders he has no recollection of ever having committed.

He is sentenced to life in solitary isolation to be carried out at a maximum-security prison in the middle of the San Francisco Bay, on the island of Alcatraz.

There he plunges into oblivion, where he suffers a gruesome transformation fueled by loneliness, depression, darkness, and despair into this atrocity other inmates call the ghost of Alcatraz.

From the gates of hell, Jake Strummer ascends to redemption aided by an unlikely friend. He finds love, happiness, and peace, and after a race against time, he commits the ultimate sacrifice.

The Ghost of Alcatraz is a tale of deliverance. The penance of the soul to define what's human is proof that happiness is within all of us even in the worst of circumstances.

Über diesen Titel

Über die Autorin bzw. den Autor

The author was born in Mexico City, Mexico, in 1966 as a product of the love between Miguel and Celia Lebrija and the nourishment that the peace and love movement gave us in the '60s. Two daughters, two older brothers, and one younger sister, along with a huge extended family, have always been a great part of his essence. He grew up enjoying the perks of ignorance and the lack of global communication of our time (actually exercising the now uncommon practice of playing in the streets of a metropolis that forged his character) that mellowed the art of human relations when you had to actually talk to a girl face-to-face, look her in the eye, and stutter.

The author studied through college and got a degree in chemical engineering and another one in sound engineering but got the most education from experiencing the world. He is an avid traveler and connoisseur of human relations and has had the privilege of discovering the world firsthand, knocking elbows with countless cultures and experiencing the inexplicable joy of being places only imagined in dreams. He started his writing career in television and radio, where he has worked for over twenty-five years, producing, writing, and performing. He now lives in Los Angeles, California, and is still looking for that piece of happiness only found in flashing moments collected through time in a compendium of aphorisms.
