Series under the head of Foot Notes. The lively interest it excited was as much a surprise to me as it could possibly have been to any one in my circumstances. Since then an English naturalist has written a work on botany with the same title; but seeing no reason in that why I should give up a good name, I have accepted the favor the Notes met with, and have ventured to put them forth in their present form.
