Excerpt from New Tree-Measurement Concepts: Height Accumulation, Giant Tree, Taper and Shape
Another advantage lies in the convenience of being able to use height, the sum of heights, and the sum of height-accumulations to calculate volume and surface of individual trees (or of classes contain ing portions of several trees). Final tabulations can be readily con verted into surface, cubic volume, or volume by a number of log rules; no volume tables are required. Little extra work is involved in tabulating volumes to several different merchantable tops, or in segre gating volume by grades.

Paperback. Zustand: New. Print on Demand. This book presents a revolutionary concept in tree measurement that transforms the classical tree measurement concept, which regarded height as the standard independent variable. The author introduces a new perspective where tree diameters above the diameter at breast height are measured in diminishing arithmetic progression, and tree height to each diameter is estimated, recorded, and accumulated. Unlike the conventional method, this approach takes advantage of modern business machines' ability to accumulate and offers the convenience of calculating volume and surface of individual trees using height, the sum of heights, and the sum of height accumulations. It includes a giant tree table and discussions on tree taper and height accumulation to provide a comprehensive understanding of the new concept. The author's approach simplifies conventional procedures and enhances precision, making this book an essential guide for timber cruisers, foresters, and anyone involved in tree measurement.
