Any mistakes are our own, and we recognize that this list leaves opportunities for refinement. For example, when one or more Hawaiian names are given to different Species, we have somewhat arbitrarily listed one of these as the preferred name and the others in parentheses. Would a different choice be better? Until such questions are settled, we hope this list will prove acceptable as interim attempt to clarify and standardize local usage.
