The clerk of the Commissioners of Sewers laid before the court a notice of the Anglo American Brush Electric Light Corporation of their intsu tion to apply to the Board of Trade for a provisional order to supply electricity within the City of London, and asking for the Commissioners' consent thereto also a notice of the Metropolitan Electric Supply Company of their intention to apply to the Board of Trade for a provisional order to supply electricity within the City, and of Laing, Wharton, and Down Construction Syndicate to the like effect. These letters were referred to the Streets Committee.

Electric Bleaching - Other fields than are lamps are now employing the inventive genius of our electricians. Says the Gas World: Mr. Charles Lever, of Altrincham, a member of the Electrical Societies of England, France, and America, son of Mr. Ellis Lever, has succeeded in producing, by means of electricity, direct from natural brine, bleaching powder, caustic soda, and a solution to be used in bleaching the finest and most delicate fabrics. This discovery is likely to have the effect of revolutionising the manu facture of bleaching powder and the bleaching industry generally. The process has been protected, and will be rapidly developed on a practical scale.
