Excerpt from An Annotated List of Experiments in Physics: Suitable for a College Course
The original edition of this book was printed in 1906 on the press of the University of Cincinnati.
It is not intended to be a course in Experimental Physics, but, as its title implies, an annotated list of some three hundred experiments, any one of which might be profitably performed by a sophomore student in college. As a rule no attempt has been made to describe the experiment, but a reference has been given to a full description of it in a standard manual or text-book.

Paperback. Zustand: New. Print on Demand. This instructional book provides a structured framework to carry out and record experimental laboratory work in the field of physics. The author explains that it is not meant as a substitute for lectures, but rather as a guide for practical work with references to more advanced literature. The purpose is to provide the student with the theoretical knowledge to carry out specific experiments, and to train them in the systematic record-keeping of their observations, results, and calculations. A chapter of instructions precedes the experiments, advising students on best practices, and covering their responsibilities and the use of notation, including the calculation of percentages and the use of significant figures. The book encourages the student to develop a questioning mind, engage in critical thinking, and seek out further knowledge. The wide range of experiments included in this book encompasses mechanics, sound, heat, light, electricity, and magnetism.
