Excerpt from First Annual Report of the Board of Managers of the Woman's Home Missionary Society of the Methodist Episcopal Church: For the Year 1881-82
Mrs. Davis extended a warm welcome to the delegates and strangers in behalf of the Cincinnati ladies, and in fitting words spoke of the encour agement which the presence of so large a number brought to her heart as she realized the aid which the Society would receive from their advice and counsel. The responsibility carried by a few, would be shared by many. The anxious plans and deliberations, that the foundations Of the Society might be wisely and firmly laid, would now become less a burden and more a delight as all joined hands in this work for Christ.
