Excerpt from A History of the Development of Libraries in Michigan: A Thesis Presented for the Degree of Bachelor of Library Science in the Illinois State Library School of the University of Illinois, June 1900
It is to be regretted that of 107 libraries addressed 38 failed to reply to the questions, since for this reason the table is incomplete. The libraries which did not respond have been starred and the information, so far as possible, taken from the Statistics of Libraries in the U. S. And Canada issued in 1897 by the U. 8.
