Inhaltsangabe

After battling debilitating panic attacks for almost a month, I found myself in a Partial-Hospitalization program, away from my family, for 13 days. There I learned more about myself, and about others struggling as I was, than I could have ever imagined. On my final day of therapy, inspired by a line from Alanis Morissette's song, "Mary Jane," I wrote a poem chronicling my entire experience entitled, "The Last Great Innocent."

Über die Autorin bzw. den Autor

I have aspired to be a writer all of his life. After a story assignment in 2nd grade had me writing out page after page while others wrote 1 front-and-back, and that story went on to receive a Young Author’s Award from the State of New Hampshire (an honor I’d receive again in 4th grade), I wrote stories and poems during my spare time. Always having kept a journal and jotting poems on scrap pieces of paper, I was inspired—and pushed—to turn my experience of the Summer of 2015 into a book by a dear friend, editor, and fellow author. With the loving support of my wife, Crys, my 2 kids, friends and family near and far, I revisited those dark days to inspire and educate others about not giving up, believing in yourself, and giving a voice to the demons we hide deep inside. When not writing and wordsmithing, I am a Reiki Practitioner, hoping to bring the energy and power of Reiki to the Birth World (a community I got involved with in 2014 when I began the blog, “The Dadvocate”) and help prenatal and postpartum moms, families, and homes through the transition of becoming, or expanding, a family.
