About the Author:
Lore Rutz-Burri is a professor of criminology and criminal justice at Southern Oregon University. Since 2015 she has also served as a pro tem judge in Josephine County, Oregon. Professor Rutz-Burri has taught a variety of criminology and criminal justice classes at SOU since 1995 including Criminal Law, Criminal Procedure, Evidence, Death Penalty, and Serial Killers. After graduating from the University of Oregon School of Law in 1989, she clerked for the Superior Court of Alaska, 4th Judicial District and then served five years as a deputy district attorney. She is an active member of the state and local bar associations and the William V. Deatherage Inn of Court.
