Inhaltsangabe

When Rachel Green meets Andreas Béliveau at a Barbados polo club, the handsome Frenchman feels an instant connection with the attractive Barbadian woman.

Rachel hasn’t come to Windmills Polo Club to find love. As an English teacher at the Language Institute of Barbados, she is looking for a new learning environment for her students. Rachel has never paid much attention to polo and feels uncomfortable until the charming Andreas saves her from too much awkward small talk with her class.

Andreas, befitting his fiery French heritage, burns hot while Rachel prefers to take things slow. Her family, the Maynards, have always stressed the importance of deliberation, and Rachel has a lot to think about before she starts this new relationship. Rachel is a black Baptist teacher and poet while Andreas is a white Catholic cruise-line magnate. Not only do Rachel and Andreas come from different backgrounds, but some members of their families also vehemently oppose the match. When Rachel’s brother and Andreas’s aunt take things too far, Rachel and Andreas wonder if they can ever have a happy ending.

Author Angela Herbert uses a sweet and sensual romance to explore deeper issues of identity, racism, culture clashes, abandonment, and resilience.
