Hard Math for Middle School: Workbook is a workbook to accompany the textbook Hard Math for Middle School: IMLEM Plus Edition.

The textbook presents topics from the standard school curriculum in greater depth, asks harder questions, and discusses problem solving strategies. It is organized around the calendar of the Intermediate Math League of Eastern Massachusetts (IMLEM) and also provides a year-long course on what students need to know to do well on MathCounts®. It can also serve as enrichment for any student who wishes that his or her math class were harder.

This workbook contains more that 100 worksheets. Each contains challenging questions that students can use to solidify their understanding of a section of the textbook and stretch their problem solving abilities. The problems range from hard to very, very hard and are arranged by difficulty level.

The workbook is designed for gifted students in grades 6-8. Younger students may be interested in Prof. Ellison's Hard Math for Elementary School.

Glenn Ellison is the Gregory K. Palm Professor of Economics and the Economics Department Head at MIT. He is also the parent of three daughters and has spent many hours coaching middle school math teams and working with informal groups of younger and older kids in his kitchen classroom.
