The Flock controls the first song of the day and only allows birds who sing like them to sing the first song to wake the woods. Blue meets Polly the Possum, Sammy the Squirrel and Soar the Eagle during his journey to find the Flock and become the First Song Bird. Blue is not welcomes by the Flock. But, Soar teaches Blue to have courage and follow his dream despite being afraid to fail. This book is very inspiring with beautiful hand drawn scenes by a teenager from Tennessee, Karissa Fitzgerald. Children will be drawn to the illustrations and love the story of Blue and learn from his courage. Karissa Volunteers at the Good News Club at the elementary school near her church teaching the gospel to the children.
