Capt. Fred Everson was born and raised in a family of well known hunters and fishermen on the Raritan Bay in New Jersey. After serving 4 years in the U.S. Navy, he attended Brookdale Community College where he studied writing and photography. He moved to Vermont in 1979 and lived there for 15 years where he wrote a weekly newspaper column and many magazine articles on hunting and fishing. In 1994 he moved to Florida where he became so enamored with snook that he decided to try his hand at guiding fishermen.
