Seymour Schulich is a self-made billionaire whose career has spanned stock brokerage, investment counseling, mining and the oil industry. He is among Canada's greatest philanthropists having donated in excess of $250 million to university faculties of business, medicine, dentistry, nursing, engineering, chemistry, and music. He has also endowed libraries, dormitories, honour courts, medical health centres, lecture, and music halls. Over 650 scholarships are awarded annually to students in Schulich schools. He holds degrees in science (chemistry), an MBA, and is a Chartered Financial Analyst (CFA). He holds Canada's highest civilian award---the Order of Canada. Mr. Schulich has been married to Tanna for close to 40 years and is privileged to have been blessed with a loyal sister, two wonderful daughters and sons-in-law, plus three exceptional grandchildren.
Derek Decloet is a business columnist for The Globe and Mail newspaper. He is married and lives in Toronto with his wife and son.
