The techniques originated by Ziegler and Nichols and popularized by Shinskey are extended and new simple equations are presented. The tuning methods documented by P.W. Murrill are also summarized. The new chapters in this edition add a synopsis of important relationships, a system perspective, an auto tuner evaluation, and batch control strategies.
