Erste Berühmtheit erlangte Miles Davis als Bebop-Jazzer und Sideman von Charlie Parker. In den 46 Jahren seines musikalischen Schaffens arbeitete er mit Musikern wie John Coltrane, Herbie Hancock, Chick Corea, Joe Zawinul, John McLaughlin und Gil Evans zusammen.
