Social phobia is one of the most common psychological disorders in the general population. "Shy Children, Phobic Adults" describes the clinical presentation of social phobia and the empirically supported interventions used to treat it. Although many children who exhibit shyness do not grow up to be socially phobic, the fear of those with social phobia is the same across all ages, but with important differences.
