Reseña del editor:
The goal of this reference is to present middle school, high school, and beginning undergraduate students with a selection of credible, reliable websites at an appropriate level for beginning research. The five volumes are divided by subject: world history, U.S. history, government and civics, economics, and geography. The entries begin with a suggested best search engine and key search term. Focusing on quality rather than quantity, no entry contains many websites (there are four each for the British Empire and for Islam, for example). Each website is described in some detail in paragraphs that give the basic facts of the topic as well as why the site selected is appropriate and what students can expect to find there. Each volume contains an introductory chapter listing resources and the types of sources available on the web for that volume's topic. Chapters containing lists of subject-specific resources for teachers, museums and summer programs for students, and organizations and societies are also included in each volume.
