Inhaltsangabe

Bookends establishes popular speaker and author Liz Curtis Higgs as one of the strongest voices in Christian Fiction. Dr. Emilie Getz and Jonas Fielding are as different as two people -- of the same age, with the same faith, living in the same small Pennsylvania town -- could possibly be. She's a first-class neatnik; he's a world-class slob. She's into saving historical relics; he's into saving souls. But perhaps opposites do attract. For when this historian and this land developer meet, sparks fly. And despite the rather inauspicious beginning to their relationship, neither one will escape unchanged ... or unsmitten!

Rezensionen

Emilie Getz returns to Lititz, PA, to write a scholarly history of the 200-year-old Moravian church she attended as a child. At a holiday service, Jonas Fielding sits next to her and antagonizes her from the first with his casual dress, unshaven face, and familiar attitude. Nevertheless, these two strong-willed people begin to explore a mutual fascination. Then their careers collide: while Jonas wraps up the construction of a golf course, Emilie is convinced some evidence she needs is under the 18th hole. A minor flaw in the plot has Emilie's broken collar bone forgotten after a couple of pages. Higgs's (Mixed Signals) characters are far from perfect (or kind), but their courtship is one of the more unusual ones in Christian fiction. Emilie's reaffirmation of her relationship with Christ will appeal to readers.
