This textbook is written in a self-study format so candidates can use it by themselves, but it can also be used in a formal classroom setting. He assumes students and readers know very little about mathematics and probably do not like what they do know, so he takes it easy, starting with the basics of numbers and fractions and systems of measurement. Gradually more sophisticated topics include interpreting drug orders and calculating doses, reconstituting dry powders, concentrations and dilutions, temperature conversions, business math, and medication errors and clinical challenges.
