This book, which grew out of the Society of Biblical Literature's Paul and Scripture Seminar, explores some of the methodological problems that have arisen during the last few decades of scholarly research on the apostle Paul's engagement with his ancestral Scriptures. Christopher D. Stanley is Professor of Theology at St. Bonaventure University. He is the author of Arguing with Scripture: The Rhetoric of Quotations in the Letters of Paul (T&T Clark) and Paul and the Language of Scripture: Citation Technique in the Pauline Epistles and Contemporary Literature (Cambridge University Press) and the co-editor of As It Is Written: Studying Paul's Use of Scripture (Society of Biblical Literature), among other works.
