Jan Van Sickle, PhD, PLS, has been a licensed professional land surveyor for 31 years and is currently licensed in seven states. Dr. Van Sickle’s diverse experience lends itself to a variety of surveying, geomatics, and GIS projects. He has published three GIS and GPS textbooks and has advised many companies, including Microsoft, Jeppesen, and Hess, in geospatial matters. Dr. Van Sickle served as the GIS director at Quest Communications, where he led the effort to build the GIS spatial database for the company’s worldwide network. He is a senior lecturer at the Pennsylvania State University and has been a featured speaker at many conferences.
