Inhaltsangabe

You've arranged for gym time, called your players, rolled out the balls. Now the moment of truth has arrived, and it's more daunting than you'd ever imagined. How do you keep the attention of a group of hyperkinetic youngsters and teach them meaningful ways to improve their basketball skills?

It's easy with THE CONFIDENT COACH'S GUIDE TO TEACHING BASKETBALL. Writer BEVERLY CARROLL has teamed with husband John, the assistant coach of the Boston Celtics, to provide youth basketball coaches the tools they need to run a successful practice and to teach their players skills that will continue to grow. Built around Coach Carroll's philosophy that children need a strong base of correctly taught fundamentals to evolve into competent players, THE CONFIDENT COACH'S GUIDE TO TEACHING BASKETBALL takes the coach through a step-by-step process of how to design a practice that is fun and produces results.

THE CONFIDENT COACH'S GUIDE TO TEACHING BASKETBALL offers advice on how to best work with different age groups, plan an efficient and enjoyable practice, basketball basics, drills and games for teaching ball handling and dribbling, passing, shooting, defensive and offensive movement, and agility and speed.

Coaches will also find handy a practice menu that allows for customizing a practice to fit individual needs. Scattered throughout are instructive anecdotes from coach Carroll's career.
