About the Author:
Marsha Briscoe lives in south eastern Kentucky with her life long soul mate husband and three dogs. An award winning published poet and novelist, she has over the years taught a variety of college English courses including advanced composition, British literature, and world literature. Marsha has been a fiction editor since 2001. In addition to editing, Marsha has authored two published novels, both of which are deeply rooted in her backgroung of teaching literature. A Still Point in Time, a Pearl Award Finalist, is a paranormal romance whose past life characers are loosely based on the historical Victorian poet/Pre-Raphaelite artist, Dante Gabriel Rossetti, and his beloved model Elizabeth Siddal. A Family Matter, Marshas second novel, brings the rudiments of and ancient Greek myth into a 1990's eastern Kentucky setting. Both books are available from Whiskey Creek Press.
Review:
"...Author Marsha Briscoe has an impressive background as a teacher of literature and as an editor and award-winning novelist and poet. Her second novel, A Family Matter is an exceptional modern-day twist to the Phaedra myth, where a stepmother and stepson are romantially attracted to one another. Against the colorful backdrop of eastern Kentucky, the reader is swept into the inner turmoil of Salina and Mick, two good - hearted people surrounded by secret-keepers and corrupt businessmen. Briscoe paints visual imagery so vivid it will enable readers to feel as if they have stepped into the fictional world she has created. With realistic dialogue and supreme characterization, this is a must-read." --Christy Tillery French for MIdwest Book Review

"...A beautiful story, A Family Matter is rich with unforgettable, depth-filled characters, gorgeous scenery and a forbiden love. Mick and Salina capture your heart immediately and you long for them to be together. Amidst their burgeoning romance, we see both characters wrestle with important decisions that will affect not just themselves, but everyone around them. What I loved most of all about A Family Matter is Mick and Salina's strength of will. they loved each other desperately, but wouldn't allow themselves to be together, respecting her marriage vows and Mick's father. Don't miss this wonderful tale by a talented author." --Sharyn McGinty for In The Library Reviews

"...A Family Matter traverses time in the contemporary telling of the myth of Phaedra, a woman destined to love her stepson, HIppolytus-the son destined to love his father's wife. Marsha Briscoe has brought the legend forward in time, losing none of the suspense, the romance and the burning desire from the original myth. If you enjoy a roller coaster of emotion and intrigue that builds step by step to the unexpected conclusion, A Family Matter is a must read." --Marge Conrad for Novel Spot
