Reseña del editor:
This book includes various chapters. Chapter 1: Show and Tell - The exciting day of "Show and Tell" has arrived. Amanda unveils Peach to applause and approval. Amanda is happy to receive the attention, but feels a twinge of jealously towards Peach: the kids are only interested in the ferret, not her. Peach finds the attention frightening, but manages to deal with the looming hand monsters. Kim congratulates Amanda on being a trendsetter, and decides to get a ferret too. Tim and Phil go up to share the hamsters, but everyone's too busy checking out Peach to care. The boys vow revenge against Amanda for stealing their spotlight. Chapter 2: Pavaratty - Amanda and Peach go over to Kim's house to meet Pavaratty, Kim's new ferret. The girls force the ferrets to hug and introduce themselves. Kim mentions that ferrets clearly have the "in" look. All they're lacking is accessories. To support her point, Kim shows off Pavaratty and his microphone accessory. This gives Amanda an idea. They can make ferret clothing! Kim's convinces her mom to take them to the fabric store. With the girls gone, Peach approaches Pavaratty. Already off to a bad start, Pavaratty jumps right into the insults. Peach warns Pavaratty to hold his tongue - she's a princess! Pavaratty laughs and says she'll never be anything but a commoner. He shows her his microphone, proof of his own stardom as a singer. The girls make clothing for the ferrets (dress for Peach, bowtie for Pavaratty). Peach loves her dress and is convinced that it is her item of proof that she is a princess. Amanda wonders about what to do with the leftover fabric. She thinks back to "Show and Tell" and recalls how her classmates only took notice of Peach, not her. She gets a fantastic idea. Chapter 3: The Costume - Confident and proud, Amanda arrives at school, dressed in a ferret costume she made from the fabric scraps. All the shocked eyes of the class turn towards Amanda. Before anyone can say anything, Kim squeals with delight, and tells her how cool she looks. Amanda's bullies arrive after the class bell rings. They laugh and point at Amanda. The rest of the day, Amanda is teased. She overhears kids talking about how stupid she looks. When Amanda comes home, she destroys the ferret costume, angrily grabs Peach and shreds the dress. Peach is devastated. She needed that dress to look like a princess! Now how will her prince find her? Chapter 4: Nation Building - Intent on building her kingdom, Peach begins taking objects of interest from around the room. Amanda notices that things are disappearing, but doesn't give it too much thought. Amanda goes to school and is immediately picked on by her bullies. The rest of the class joins in. To make matters worse, the teacher announces that the boys have volunteered to leave one of their hamsters in the class as a mascot. This makes them even more popular. Then the teacher passes out a test. Amanda rummages through her backpack for a pencil, but is unable to find one. She turns to Kim and asks to borrow a pencil, but Kim ignores her. Later that day, Kim apologizes but explains that she can no longer talk to Amanda in public - it would be bad for her image. Meanwhile, Peach has created a nice little kingdom out of the items she's collected. She has her royal subjects, (plushies including Mr. Fuzzy, Mr. Crab, and Mr. Snake) and other things like coins, jewelry, a shoe, socks, and a pencil. She's wearing one of Amanda's socks as a dress, with holes chewed into it for her head and legs. Still, it's not quite enough to impress a prince, and she's running out of objects to take. Peach makes several failed attempts to escape from the room in search of more stuff, leading Amanda to believe that even Peach hates her now. But then Peach finally devises a plan that works. Realizing that the Handra takes the backpack with it when it leaves every morning, she slips inside to hitch a ride. Chapter 5: The Deadly Visitor! - At school, while the kids are at recess, Peach the stowaway hops out of Amanda's backpack to look around. As she trots off into the background, a small snake slithers across the floor. The missing snake from "Show and Tell"! Peach immediately notices this strange tasting kibble of the "moving variety". And the roaming snake, also looking for a snack, takes interest in the class mascot, the hamster! Due to its small size, it has no problem slipping through the bars of the cage. It attempts to devour the hamster, but also because of its small size, it's unable to swallow it. The kids re-enter the classroom and spot the snake. They form a semi-circle around the cage - some terrified; others morbidly amused. Phil starts crying and screaming because the snake is eating his hamster! Tim pulls out a knife to "take care" of the snake, but the teacher catches him and sends him to the principal's office. Amid the ruckus, Peach emerges from her hiding place, a roach leg hanging out of her mouth. She spots, strangely enough, one of her royal subjects, Mr. Snake. She trots over to the cage to investigate. Amanda sees Peach and goes to grab her but is restrained by Kim, who redeems herself as a friend by protecting Amanda from the danger of snake. Peach pulls the snake by its tail, effectively dislodging the dazed and confused hamster from the snake's mouth. The class cheers for Amanda and Peach, Kim cheering the loudest of all. Ferrets are back in style. And Amanda, having redeemed herself after that ferret costume incident, is once again the coolest girl in class.
