General Blaine Rayburn moves his Confederate Carolina Calvary Division down the long valleys of Virginia in 1861. Saddle up and ride along with the division. Experience the battles and hardships of the soldiers as they move slowly through the narrow valleys with Union troops laying in wait on the mountain ridges. Share in their heartaches as they bury their dead. Follow them all the way through heavy battles in Tennessee. Share the division's loss in Atlanta, where most of the men were killed, and the rest taken prisoner and sent to Camp Douglass, Illinois. Learn how unusual circumstances allowed General Rayburn and eighteen of his soldiers to go free and return home after the Atlanta battle. Tag along with two Union soldiers as they hide five hundred gold bars in the mountains near the White Rocks in Ewing, Virginia. This is a story that takes you back to the Civil War and its people and the way they had to live. Share their heartaches, hopes and dreams. Share in their humor. In other words, ride along and live the Civil War.

Paperback. Zustand: Very Good. 2008 signed first edition, Brentwood Academic Press (Columbus, Georgia), 5 3/8 x 8 1/4 inches tall paperbound, 441 pp. Very slight rubbing, creasing and edgewear to covers. Inscribed and signed by the author at the top of the title page, with a notation - apparently also by the author - that the prior owner received the book for his birthday from his mother. It appears the author also penned in his phone number on the last printed page of the book, which has a list of the author's other works. Otherwise, a very good copy - clean, bright and unmarked - of this scarce work of historical fiction. Not in OCLC. ~SP03~ General Blaine Rayburn moves his Confederate Carolina Calvary Division down the long valleys of Virginia in 1861. Saddle up and ride along with the division.
