Inhaltsangabe

In 20 short pieces with the general aim of pointing the reader toward "those heights of self-knowledge and self-conquest which...rise above the turbulence of the world," James Allen-one of the most popular writers in the fields of inspiration at the turn of the 20th century-makes his case in this 1910 work for shutting out the noisier, baser aspects of life in order to focus on the enlightenment of the self. Included are essays on true happiness, integrity, belief, mental attitude, and the use of reason. As practical as he is spiritual, Allen once again shows how true salvation can, and must, come from within. British author and pop philosopher JAMES ALLEN (1864-1912) retired from the business world to pursue a life of writing and contemplation. Best known for As a Man Thinketh, he authored many other books about the power of thought including The Way of Peace, The Mastery of Destiny, and Entering the Kingdom.

Über die Autorin bzw. den Autor

James Allen (1864-1912) was a British philosophical writer and one of the most influential early voices in the modern self-help and New Thought tradition. Best known for As a Man Thinketh, Allen wrote brief, concentrated works on thought, character, conduct, prosperity, peace, self-discipline, and spiritual growth. His books helped establish a durable form of practical spiritual writing built around the idea that the disciplined inner life shapes outward circumstance, moral strength, and personal destiny.Allen's writing is marked by clarity, seriousness, and moral compression. He does not offer quick success formulas; he asks the reader to examine thought, habit, desire, action, and character as parts of one continuous spiritual life. In Out from the Heart, he returns to one of his central themes: that the heart and mind must be guarded, purified, and trained if life is to become strong, peaceful, and fruitful. For readers of New Thought, classic self-help, spiritual personal development, and early twentieth-century conduct literature, Allen remains one of the essential authors of the field.
